ViaNova 3000
ViaNova 3000 is a complete migration solution for third-generation language applications (3GLs), written for the HP e3000 platform. The solution is offered through two models:
- ViaNova 3000 STANDARD: Performs code and data migration.
- ViaNova 3000 FLEX: Re-engineers the application so that it may run in total native environment.
ViaNova 3000 offers solutions for the following HP e3000 environments:
- Languages: COBOL, FORTRAN, Pascal and SPL
- Screens: VPLUS and Wingspan
- Database systems: Allbase, TurboImage and all MPE file formats
- System: Intrinsics, MPE commands, and various utilities
Companies who choose to adopt the ViaNova 3000 solution should also know that their TurboImage databases can be migrated to Eloquence, or to most RDBMSs using a product known as ti2SQL by Ordat.
ViaNova 3000 migrates applications to open systems, including HP-UX, Linux and Windows. What's more, it makes use of supporting products such as MPUX and edWin/3K.
MPUX provides essential MPE services on open systems, such as jobs, file systems, users, accounts, and many more. It is available with either ViaNova 3000 or separately, and supports the following:
- MPE intrinsics: MPUX brings intrinsics to your new machine. This includes support for file system, process, catalog, XDS, NetIPC and system functions.
- MPE utilities: MPE utilities, such as FCOPY, SORT and MERGE are available in MPUX as well.
- Sub-systems: MPUX supplies an MPE-compatible spooler, batch sub-system and job & session management.
- CLI & JCL: MPUX includes and MPE-compatible command interface. The JCL processor implements all relevant job control commands.
edWin/3K is a migration and development environment product designed for HP e3000 VPLUS users. edWIn/3K is built on the edWin generic user interface platform and offers full VPLUS compatibility and an enhanced feature set for both developers and end-users. What's more, the product migrates VPLUS forms to XML-based files, which could lead to future simple form development. edWin/3K is also compatible with ViaNova 3000's VPLUS intrinsics library, eliminating the need to modify the VPLUS intrinsic code.
