Frequently Asked Questions
- All Speedware manuals are available in PDF format, either on CD-ROM or as download files from our Web site. The information in all the old-style printed books is there, up-to-date and formatted for easy online reading. There is a search function and the text is hyperlinked so you can jump to the page you need no matter which volume it's in.
- Yes indeed. Introductory and training manuals are available as printed books, including Getting Starteds, Quick References, Release Notes and Installation Guides. Plus, all the other manuals are also available in printed format, in 8½" x 11" binders. To place an order, contact your account representative or send an email to info@speedware.com.
- If it's a printed book, face it, it's probably out of date. Only introductory and training manuals are still updated as printed books. All other updates are in the PDF version. When you look at any manual, the publication information on the second page will tell you which version it documents. The version number of your software and manual should match.
- Each software version comes with a book of Release Notes. These Notes cover all the new information and mention any changes that could create compatibility problems. Sometimes, the printed Release Notes get stuck on the desk of the sys admin person who installed the new software version. He doesn't need them; you do. But don't despair, you can download the Release Notes from the SWS or find them on the software or the documentation CD, so if you can't liberate the paper copy, you can still get the information you need.
- Start with Getting Started, even if you took a training course. Then go to the Programmer's Guide. While you're working on your Speedware applications, look up specific details in the Quick Reference Guide or in any of the Reference Manuals.
- You've tried the table of contents and the index in the printed manuals? You've used the Search function in the online set? You've even asked your local guru? Maybe we'll have to admit that we left out the fact you need. Please let us know. Contact Customer Support at support@speedware.com and report the trouble so we can fix it for next time. Thank you.
- If you need manuals, contact your Speedware Sales Account Manager.
