Over the course of our 25-year history, Speedware has had the opportunity to help a variety of businesses implement IT solutions to address their business challenges. These professional consulting services have included everything from enterprise application development, to industry-specific business intelligence solutions, wireless application development and complete HP e3000 migration projects. Below is a small sampling of some of our recent consulting engagements.
After moving their larger applications, Yale New Haven had a small number of applications and databases still left running on their IBM mainframe. It made no sense to maintain a large and expensive mainframe just for these technologies so Yale decided to re-host them on a Microsoft Windows platform.

The City of Phoenix’s Public Works department was required by law to have access to archived information on the City’s automotive fleet. The department had been using a fleet management software that had been replaced by a packaged application. The archived information was not exported to the replacement system and still resided on a HP e3000 server that would soon no longer be supported by Hewlett-Packard. The Public Works department needed to transfer the archived data to a format that was accessible using current technology.

When Hewlett-Packard announced the end-of-life for the HP e3000, ING Australia needed to mitigate the risk to business continuity by migrating to a new technology platform. The company had started down the path of a rewrite but that proved to be too time-consuming and labor-intensive. With Speedware’s help, ING developed a new strategy to migrate ING’s applications onto a more modern technology infrastructure.

As a long time Hewlett-Packard customer, this retailer already had the largest HP e3000 machines on site, yet operations in Germany and the UK were rapidly approaching maximum capacity. That, together with the announcement that HP would soon no longer support the HP e3000, made it imperative that a migration solution be found and implemented quickly.
